As the story goes, before Mr. Kaufmann even stepped foot in Modesto, the notorious Kate Trompetter identified Josh as someone who needed to be brought into community and reached out to welcome him. He would land at the Modesto Symphony Orchestra, connecting with Reggie who was managing social and other digital marketing efforts for the Symphony at the time. Initially content living on Modesto’s periphery, a buddy bromance would evolve and Josh would eventually find himself both figuratively and literally moving deeper into the center of Modesto’s civic life.

She’s a maker. She’s an artist. There’s a beautiful spirit about her that some would say “doesn’t belong in Modesto.” There was a part of her that was starting to believe that was true. But then she met Reggie while collaborating on the inaugural season of Modesto On Ice – she was managing the brand and design, and he the social media and community engagement. What Alexus witnessed in Reggie from his day-to-day musings on social media to his leap of faith into Modesto Fashion Week was a fierce conviction that creative folks like her in fact not only belong here, but are here. She’s come to embrace her place in Modesto, finding a home at Final Cut Media and venturing out on her own on projects like The Valley Gathering and Makers June to showcase and create Modesto’s beauty.

She had hit a ceiling, and a wall, and a road block, and every other proverbial limiter in her professional life. She knew there was more for life to offer her, but she was starting to lose faith she would find it here in Modesto. A co-worker suggested she check out The Breakfast Club, and she has never looked back. She connected, engaged, took on a leadership role, and eventually found herself as the new Marketing Manager at Final Cut, loving life in the Valley.

Mike Daniel doesn’t need any more proof. He is the proof. In diving head first into community he’s been the beneficiary of a burgeoning organization full of great people he’s met along the path of most engagement. The story of his recent hires Alexus Kearney and Ilse Perez illustrate the power of community engagement for the individual and even to the community, but Mike’s story on the other side of the equation reveals why this matters to the success of Final Cut Media and businesses all across the county.
